I am Alison Brown, and I own Cabana Wax, a full-body wax studio I founded here in Huntsville, five years ago. We specialize in a safe, affordable, and thorough Brazilian wax. Perhaps ironically, I’ve grown my business from 5 clients on opening day in August 2018 to over 13,000 today by keeping it small: one appointment at a time, a small staff I can adequately provide for, and two locations I can personally manage while also being a wife and mother.
My main goal is for Cabana to give busy women access to self-care that fits their schedule and budget. I’m proud of Cabana’s reputation for timely fulfilling appointments so that our clients can have peace of mind, knowing a 12:00 lunchtime wax means 12:00 -- not 12:15. It should be convenient for you to do something for yourself.

I first heard about Jennifer Daniels Photography from We are Huntsville. When Jenn’s assistant Molly first asked me why I wanted to do a photoshoot, I heard myself answer that I wanted to rediscover a part of myself I’ve sort of lost as a result of always being “in charge” (of a business and a household): an earlier, freer version of Alison who didn’t have to control everything.
It’s been a long time since I’ve prepared for something centered around me. I’ve designed and opened stores, decorated for the holidays, planned birthday parties and trips, but nothing just about ME. So, boudoir prep (shopping, browsing pictures online to see what kind of look I was going for, etc.) was a lot of fun!
When I arrived at JDP for my photoshoot, I felt so happy and, honestly, so free from my daily obligations. I was in this gorgeous studio, getting my hair and makeup done, when Jennifer came out. She is Jenny from the Block. Think “the girl next door” – the “artsy girl next door who likes to shoot boudoir.” She’s cool and humble.
“Artsy” was an important part of this experience. Jennifer is a detail-oriented professional who has heavily invested in her studio space, furniture, and accessories. It’s not just taking pictures. What she does is truly artistic: every part of you -- your hands, chin, eyes -- are choreographed to produce images that not only look amazing, but also evoke emotion and create a strong presence of the woman in the photo.
When I saw my photos, I was really proud. I felt like, even after having two kids and navigating the daily stress of owning a small business, I recognized a softer version of myself I hadn’t seen in many years. Jennifer has a way of knocking off the “dust” and reminding you of all the appeal you’re packing.
